Let us praise the Colorado police for taking Mr. Dear alive, and then lets take another look at that video of what happened with the young man in Chicago with the folding knife.

Now the spokespeople in the police union who had originally claimed Laquan McDonald had lunged at officer Jason Van Dyke say they can't remember where they heard that version, they were just repeating what they'd heard, and Van Dyke has been charged with murder one. In this episode of Law and Order, the state's attorney and the police union either suppress the truth altogether, or postpone charging the killer cop for a year because the incident happened while the Fergusen uprising was still underway, and Eric Garner had been murdered and that also was on video and Black Lives Matter was becoming a movement. A journalist sued to get the Chicago video made public, but a Burger King manager alleges that police officers erased 86 minutes of surveillance video that covered the time period of the killing, which occurred a hundred feet away.

"All Lives Matter" is a principle of justice. "Black Lives Matter" is a demand for justice.
This year, once again, I can be thankful for white male privilege, until something really awful happens. And something awful always happens.
I understand why so many white Americans are afraid of their shame, but we need to confess, repent, and listen to our neighbors.
